Our adoption journey began almost seven years ago with the birth of our daughter as she joined our family from the foster care system. Three years later our growing family embraced our son in the same way. Over the past six years our family of four has moved into our first home, journeyed all over the country, and began the process of home schooling. Our daughter has grown into an active young learner with a thirst for understanding and our son deeply enjoys the outdoors and toy trucks. Our love as a family continues to blossom each day.

Parenting children who have experienced the foster care system came with moments of great joy, but also with unanticipated challenges. During the time that we were foster parents there were 2 sweet young ones we cared for who touched our lives and then moved on. Our careers as child advocates prepared us for this loss, but we hadn't anticipated the depth of loss that our son and daughter felt as they watched their foster "siblings" leave. The pain our family experienced encouraged the very hard decision to take a break from fostering in order to grieve and heal. As we walked through that experience with our children we grew to understand that the loss they felt was magnified by their own stories of loss through adoption.

When we felt ready to expand our family once more we chose to explore domestic infant adoption to lessen this possibility. We are thrilled to share that we have begun the process of domestic infant adoption with a leading adoption agency in Philadelphia. We chose them because of their mission to support the delicate balance of both expectant parents finding themselves in the position of contemplating an adoption plan and couples who wish to parent through adoption.

Our family is beyond excited as we eagerly prepare to welcome a beautiful new life into our home. We have completed the home study and now are ready to create a family profile book to share with mothers considering an adoption plan for their child.
