Sweetwaters, South Africa:

Sweetwaters, South Africa, is an area hard-hit by HIV/AIDS (50% of young adults in the area are HIV positive). The community faces challenges of poverty, unemployment, and poor education. iThemba Projects partners with the people of Sweetwaters, to transform a generation of kids and teens through education and mentoring so that they may bring hope to their community, and be a light throughout South Africa. (Restoration Hope partners with iThemba by providing funds for their mentoring and education work). iThemba is bringing mentors into the community who are walking through life with kids and teens- being role models, and helping them make good life choices. iThemba also trains local day-care owners in Early Childhood Education, as well as a parent-child home education programme. Everything iThemba does is motivated by a love for Jesus and for the kids in this community. It's something I'm super excited about!
