Our first homestudy "visit" via zoom. Posted about ago

4/28/2020 This was supposed to be the most intimidating part....

So, last night we met our social worker Barbara. The whole day I was nervous about what she was going to ask and if we would have all the "right," answers. The hard part about adoption is as the adopting parents it feels like you are under a microscope. They want to know how you are as a spouse, individual, and parent. They want to know about your childhood, your love story, your infertility, your extended family, your support, your spirituality, how you discipline, where you plan to send your child too school, what you think of adoption, how you view the birthmother, and so much more.

However, our meeting was amazing. It was so comfortable and casual. She was so encouraging and reassured us she was not going to "fail," us. She had a feeling we were going to have a baby soon! She reminded us that although it can take time to be matched, she often is rushed to finish her home study cause the families are matched before she can finish. We talked all about how we came to adopting. And sharing this story always brings us back to the beautiful story God wrote as he opened our hearts to his plan to grow our family through adoption.

We left this meeting beaming. We looked at eachther and squealed a bit that it went so smoothly!  We now have avlittle more of the feeling "this is really happening!"

We will have visit 2/3 on 4/11 and then our last one 2 weeks after that!
