WHO WE ARE

simple bitessimple designsimple homemadesimple homeschoolsimple kidssimple mom

Simple Living Media started in early 2010, springboarding on the success of the founder’s blog, Simple Mom, which started in 2008. As we encourage our readers to live more simply, we spend our days doing the same, living out our roles all over North America.

We are women, wives, moms, sisters, and friends. We are passionate about what we bring to our readers. Together, we promote simplicity and intentional living in each of our niches.

Tsh Oxenreider, Founder & Creative Director

Tsh is the voice behind Simple Mom, the flagship blog of SLM and hailed by Apartment Therapy as “the go-to blog for learning how to manage your home with efficiency and grace.” She's a mama to three little ones, likes her coffee black, and thinks a library card, a Netflix subscription, and a passport are some of the greatest parenting tools in the universe. She's written a few books, and because she has nothing else to do, is in the middle of writing her next.

Nicole Bennett, Editor of Simple Homemade

Nicole is married to a handsome guy and has three little kiddos. She loves sharing her passion for baby-stepping towards a more natural, handmade lifestyle. In addition to editing Simple Homemade, the channel about sustainable and healthy living for creative people, she also blogs at GidgetGoesHome.com. She loves to read, sew, surf and watch baseball, and can often be found in the kitchen as well.

Kara Fleck, Editor of Simple Kids

Kara Fleck is the editor of Simple Kids, the channel that invites parents to slow down and reconnect with the fundamentals of parenting. She lives in Indiana with her husband Christopher and their four children. You can also find her at Rockin' Granola.

Jamie Martin, Editor of Simple Homeschool

Jamie is a mama to three cute kids born on three different continents. She serves as editor of Simple Homeschool, the channel where you’ll find tips, tools, and techniques to teach your children with confidence, and blogs about mindful parenting at Steady Mom. Jamie is also the author of two books:Steady Days: A Journey Toward Intentional, Professional Motherhood and Mindset for Moms: From Mundane to Marvelous Thinking in Just 30 Days.

Aimée Wimbush-Bourque, Editor of Simple Bites

Cooking has always been Aimée's preferred recreational activity, creative outlet, and source of relaxation. After nearly ten years in the professional cooking industry, she went from restaurant to RSS by trading her tongs and clogs for cookie cutters and a laptop, serving as editor at Simple Bites, the family-oriented channel dedicated to all things food and drink.

Arianne Segerman, editor of Simple Design

Arianne creates style ideas, pens poetry, plants knowledge in young minds, curates lovely things, and does it all with an eye for the story being woven through her each and every day. As editor of Simple Design, she strives to bring you inspiration, how-to and beauty from voices across the creative-sphere.

WHAT WE BELIEVE

  • People and families can live on and with far less than mainstream cultural norms lead us to believe.
  • Debt is not a tool, and instead puts people into needless bondage. Therefore, we believe that everyone should live within or below their means.
  • Life is not about consumption, and we can make a difference by wise stewardship of our resources, time, energy, money, and environment.
  • We value quality over quantity in all facets of life, from tangible items, to relationships, to aesthetics.
  • People are more important than things.

OUR GOAL

To encourage and equip people with what they need to simplify their lives.

WE SUPPORT COMPASSION INTERNATIONAL

Compassion's Holistic Child Development Model begins in the earliest stages of a child’s development and continues through young adulthood. This long-term model benefits children today and equips them with the skills they need to become independent adults.

  • Child Survival - Our prenatal program helps mothers give their babies a better chance to be healthy. And once a child comes into the world, we're there with our Child Survival Program to get critical child development off to a running start.
  • Child Sponsorship - In a world where more than a billion children live on less than U.S. $2 per day, connecting one child with one sponsor is the most strategic way to end child poverty.
  • Leadership Development - There's nothing like seeing a young person emerge from poverty, go to college, and return home as a true leader.

FITCHE EVANGELICAL MEKANE YESUS CHILD SURVIVAL PROGRAM

In Ethiopia, thousands of girls in poverty are growing up without good role models. As these girls grow up and have babies they lack the basic skills and knowledge needed to raise a healthy baby.

Poverty is holding mothers back from the resources they need to be a successful parent. This is where
Compassion’s Child Survival Program (CSP) steps in. The Fitche Evangelical Mekane Yesus Child Survival Program (CSP) is coming alongside mothers to help them deliver and raise healthy babies.

MOTHERS IN THIS CSP ARE TRAINED HOW TO:

  • provide a healthy and safe environment for their child,
  • improve on their self-esteem so that they can in turn create trust between their baby, allowing for a healthy attachment, and
  • create activities for their baby which will promote closeness, growth and a loving environment.

AS FOR THE PHYSICAL NEEDS OF THE BABY, THE CSP STEPS IN AND PROVIDES:

  • monthly supplies of food,
  • training on nutritional planning,
  • training on hygiene habits for the parents and for the baby,
  • activities that will allow the baby to develop his/her motor skills, and
  • medical checkups to babies and their mothers, and pregnant mothers.
These are the critical steps that are needed to break the cycle of poverty. When you support this center you are not just sustaining the life of an infant, you are providing a chance for mothers and babies to thrive.

WE WELCOME YOU TO JOIN US IN SUPPORTING THE FITCHE EVANGELICAL MEKANE YESUS CHILD SURVIVAL PROGRAM
