Dear friends, many of you have been asking for an update regarding the Ethiopia trip, and I apologize for the delay in communication.
I’m sure it comes as no surprise that the trip – originally scheduled for July 2020 – has been canceled. To be honest, after my initial disappointment, my next thought was of all of you who so quickly and willingly supported me with prayers, words of encouragement, and financial contributions towards the trip cost. I felt like I had taken advantage of you and was embarrassed. However, the Lord reminded me that He knew about Covid-19 and the cancelation, long before I even heard about the opportunity to go to Ethiopia. He is never surprised and never caught off guard. I’m not sure of His exact plan for me regarding Ethiopia and the Oromo people or what He intends to use the money for that you all contributed with such joy, but I have no doubt that He will be glorified. How exciting to be part of His plan - even when much of it is a mystery!
So, you’re probably wondering what happens next! There are a few scenarios. Eventually, the Ethiopia trip will be rescheduled. Depending upon the dates and a few other factors, joining that trip is an option. At this time, no approximate date has been proposed, nor do I anticipate that will change until there is more stability with Covid-19. Another choice is the option to use the current financial contributions toward a different trip with e3 Partners. The ministry holds the funds for a few years if a participant indicates he or she is able to join a different trip. Lastly, the money can be turned over to e3 Partners to be used effectively through their ministry. This option will be my last choice after waiting to see if the Lord has a trip for me first!
Thank you so very much for your overwhelming responses and encouragement! And please join me in praying for the Oromo people group. Although my journey there is on hold, God is still moving, and the people there need to know Him!
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out to me.
Sincerely,
Shannon
