About this Fundraiser

Sarah has been working with Word Made Flesh, serving among the world’s most vulnerable, for almost 15 years.  Sarah has spent most of her time with the WMF community in Kolkata, India since 2001. She has made her neighbors, the women, men and children of Kolkata’s largest red light area.  Sarah desires to be an incarnational presence as she partners her WMF community, friends and neighbors in the Red Light Area in the fight for freedom and the sustainable restoration of Kolkata’s red-light areas.

Sarah Co-Founded Sari Bari in 2006, to bring freedom through employment to women trapped in the sex trade and to provide opportunity to women vulnerable to trafficking. Sarah is currently the Managing Director of Sari Bari (Sari Bari Private Limited) and seeks to offers love, creativity, vision and direction to people that makeup the movement of the Sari Bari Community.

Sari Bari’s mission is to offer freedom to women trapped in the sex trade and to provide opportunity to women vulnerable to trafficking. This is accomplished this employment in a safe, loving place (environment), where women are trained and employed as Artisans. The women create beautiful, sustainable, handmade products, while making their lives new.
