03/25/2015 - 114 Days Till the Trip
Hey everyone! I wanted to share a quick update on the things that are going on as we prepare for the trip.
Yesterday I received six (six!) immunizations:

Among the different shots I received were the Yellow Fever, Hep A, Typhoid, and Menveo vaccinations. I actually have two more shots to go (another Hep booster and the TDAP shot), so there's more "fun" to look forward to. Although the sticks and the injections went smoothly, it feels like someone whacked my left arm with a baseball bat - that's the Yellow Fever shot. I'm trying to remind myself that the worst needle stick is still better than the best day in a hospital.
My teammates and I have met several times over the last few months in order to get to know one another, pray for the trip, and encourage each other in scripture memory and learning more about the culture. We're memorizing quite a few different verses to use in tandem with the Evangecube (more on that later). and learning how to tell stories from the Bible in a way that's easy to understand - especially for children. It's a lot of work, but it's been great locking arms with the other young adults going on the trip and realizing that we're in this together.
In this time leading up to the trip we will continue training, get some "field practice," and prepare ourselves mentally, physically, spiritually, and emotionally for the journey. I hope that you will join us in praying over everyone involved in the trip.
Regards,
Sam
