You All Blew Our Minds Posted about ago

Last week, I announced that our family is fundraising the final $10,000 to adopt Baby Ward. Let me tell you how hard it was to put our need out there. IT WAS HARD. I had so many feelings about it.  And that little voice of doubt kept creeping in, sounding something like this:

DOUBT: What if no one donates?

ME: Shut up Doubt, you’re not helping me feel any better.

DOUBT: But what if we don’t raise the money?

ME: I’m not listening to you.

DOUBT: What if everyone avoids us like those door-to-door salesmen who are always trying to sell us new windows?

ME: This is just getting ridiculous.

But then I remembered we are not selling windows.  We are not selling anything.  We are trying to adopt a baby.

It’s simple. We are offering friends a chance to join us in bringing home a child, an opportunity for others to become a community of hope to a little baby and a birth mom.

So I held my breath, muzzled Doubt, and put it all out there.

It was still hard.

But we did it anyway.

We kicked off Team Ward’s “Bring Home a Baby” campaign on Pure Charity and the response has blown our minds.

God’s people have rallied and sent their checks and shared it on social media and we are speechless at the response to our adoption fundraiser.

We have received almost a quarter of the funds we needed on Pure Charity in a week’s time, all because we put our heart’s desire out there and asked that you would consider investing in the life of a child who needs a forever family.

Mind Blown: Part 2 (Also, this would make a good movie title)

My incredible family in Pennsylvania wanted to support Team Ward in a tangible way from a distance. Last Friday, they hosted a garage sale, craft, and food sale at their church in Pennsylvania. They are a small church and small community, but never discount the mighty power of the small. Haven’t you seen the movie Hoosiers?

So my family organized this big yard sale, complete with baked goods, a lemonade stand, and a nerf gun game for kids. (My nephews. The best.) Sam’s brothers made hand cut french fries.  Like, not from the freezer.  You guys, I don’t even make hand cut french fries. My sister-in-law crocheted beautiful things for our adoption and is still taking orders. My other sister-in-law baked braided breads at midnight despite having three children, age 4 and under. My whole family rallied together and cleaned out their closets and invited people to come and hosted a garage sale for 11 hours straight.

God’s people rallied together, doing one small thing (or in this case, one huge thing) and when I saw the total numbers at the end of the sale, I was like WHAT…?!

ALMOST $2000.

You guys.

I personally want to hug every single person who made donations or has supported or shared our Pure Charity website.  I just want to say, thank you, thank you, thank you over and over again.

You might just get sick of me saying thank you, but it’s how I feel and there aren’t enough thank you’s.

This blog can’t really express our gratitude.  But our hearts are bursting.

The grand total so far is astounding.

Ready for this?

Because of the garage sale, the Pure Charity fundraiser, and a few personal donations we received, WE ARE HALFWAY THERE!

All in a week’s time.

We love you.

God is good.

We can do this thing.
