SAHP Communication Sciences & Disorders Mission Trip 2018

The Communication Sciences and Disorders Program has been involved in a collaborative and clinical/educational based mission trip over the last 6 years  with Zhejiang University Children's Hospital in Hangzhou, China .   Our partnership with the administration, department heads and clinical staff at Zhejiang University Children's Hospital has resulted in the increased awareness of our field, expansion of services for children in the Zhejiang province, and an increased awareness of whole person care.  This year we will be taking 10 students, 2 alumna and 3 CMSD faculty.  We will also be expanding our trip to include two new hospital locations servicing both pediatric and adult patients.  The primary goals and objectives of the 2018 trip include:

1. Provide training/educational training to hospital staff in 6 departments in 4 hospital sites

2. Participate in Rehabilitation Training Conference for doctors, clinicians and teachers

 
3. Provide patient consultation and clinical training    

 4. Provide accent modification services to staff 

5.  Complete parent education and training  

6. Provide the students an experience of participating in a service learning and interdisciplinary educational mission trip,  to apply the skills and knowledge from their graduate courses, and to learn about global issues related to the field of Speech Language Pathology
