We started our journey to grow our family via adoption in 2014 by attending various seminars, agency information sessions, and reading some great books. We selected a local agency – Open Adoption and Family Services - that closely aligns with our beliefs and values. We both believe strongly that when possible, open adoptions are a great avenue to allow the child to maintain a loving relationship with the birth family. Together with the birthparents, we will raise a happy and adored child.

The next phases of our journey to adopt are where substantial costs add up. There is a lot of time and effort that goes into screening adoptive homes and providing much needed services and counseling for the birth family as well. It may surprise you to hear that adoption related costs can easily add up to $35,000 or more.
