Dear Friends, Family and Neighbors,
I have an amazing opportunity in February to join a Missions
Trip to Haiti again with the Men’s leadership team at Crossline Community
Church.
Haiti is among the poorest countries in the world and the
devastating 2010 earthquake killed 316,000 Haitians, injured 300,000 and left
one million homeless.
Shortly after the quake, The Global Mission and Crossline
Church began sending teams to help rebuild this battered country and her
precious people, feeding the hungry, rebuilding homes, discipling and educating
youths, sharing the Gospel, resourcing leaders and rescuing youths off the
streets of Port-au-Prince.
Haiti was also further devastated by Hurricane Matthew in
October 2016. My wife was in Haiti at that time with a Women’s group from our
church. They were able to offer immediate relief to some of the victims in the
surrounding communities.
During my trips in 2017 & 2018, I gained a passion for the
Haitian people. I spent time with orphans that were saved off the streets and
given new hope at a few of the shelters built by support from our church. It
was so amazing to see their joy as I spent time interacting with them. I was
able to meet and interact with in person, the little girl Naika that my family
sponsors with a monthly donation. She is no longer just a picture on our
refrigerator. I was able to wash her feet, as Jesus did his disciples, before
she received a new pair of shoes bought with funds raised for our mission.
I visited an elderly village, run by Korean nuns, that
houses hundreds of elderly people that were left on the streets or in hospitals
for dead until these women intervened. I spent time and prayed with a number of
these people. It was amazing to see the joy they displayed knowing that they
had been saved because of the love of Jesus poured out by the staff there.
I went to a number of villages were we passed out food that
would last for a few days. I prayed for and shared the love of Jesus with the
people I interacted with. I shared that a relationship with Jesus is
everlasting.
I visited a plot of land that the Global Mission has
purchased and is planning to build more orphanages, a community church, and
trade school so that as the orphans age out they can have skills to earn a
living and take care of themselves. I prayed over this land that God would use
it to impact many lives and provide hope for that community. I played soccer
with kids that came out of the surrounding houses to see what we were up to. I
prayed for and shared the love of Jesus with them.
I helped in the construction of a house for a pastor and his
wife whom have taken in so many orphans that they no longer have a private
space for themselves. They will likely do the same with the new house!!
I have many more amazing stories of how God used me to serve
and share his Love with the people of Haiti. What I wasn’t counting on was how
much of an impact the people of Haiti would have on me. They encouraged me with
their joy and hope. This trip allowed me to grow stronger in my faith and
relationship with Jesus.
I am excited to be able to go back and serve the people of
Haiti both physically and spiritually. In order to do this I need your support.
You can help me in the following two ways:
1.
Prayer. Please support myself and the team by
praying for us as we prepare to go to Haiti and do ministry there. Pray that
people will see, feel and know the Gospel of Christ and his Love for them. Pray
for guidance, wisdom and health.
2.
SUPPORT. In order for me to go to Haiti, I will
need to raise $2795 by July 10th, 2019. The money will cover the cost of
transportation, meals, lodging, and ministry projects.
I am very excited to see how God will work
through me again to help those in Haiti and my continued spiritual growth. So
please consider joining me in prayers and by giving a tax-deductible gift to
help me reach Haiti.
