We are raising funds!
Our goal is $500,000 by December 31, 2020!
The Watershed Conservation Resource Center (WCRC) 501(c) (3),
is raising funds to create The River
Institute of Northwest Arkansas. Integrating
science, design, and the humanities, The
River Institute will focus on environmental protection, understanding, and
restoration of rivers, riparian, wetlands, prairies, and floodplains, and their
importance in protecting our environment including water quality, ecosystems, and quality of life.
This fundraiser
supports Phase I in which The River
Institute will establish:
~ A training center located adjacent to the West
Fork White River (WFWR) in Fayetteville, AR with indoor and outdoor classrooms to
support public short courses on:
o
Streams, floodplains, wetlands, prairies, and
riparian conservation and restoration
o
Native plant identification and use for residents
& businesses
o
Invasive plant removal techniques and native
replacements
o
Residential stormwater solutions
~ A butterfly and native plant greenhouse to propagate
native plants for stream and wetland restoration projects
~ Facilities to house the WCRC to support river
assessment and restoration
~ Support for needed ongoing monitoring and maintenance
of existing river restoration sites
We will give updates on our project and the construction of
this awesome watershed resource area.
Phase II of The River Institute involves creating public
access to the over 90-acre property on the WFWR in which the commons will house
environmental art, recreation facilities, a transit node in a developing
intercity water trail, and trail exhibits memorializing Native American
riparian life-ways.
Thank you for helping us make a difference and believing in
our dream for Northwest Arkansas.
