More than 1,000 children are infected with HIV every single day.
Of these children, more than half will die as a result of AIDS because of a lack of access to HIV treatment. Millions more are indirectly affected by the epidemic each and every day as a result of the death and suffering caused in their families and communities- from child-headed households to abandonment and abuse. This is the reality for the community of Sweetwaters, South Africa.
Restoration Hope works primarily in the community of Sweetwaters, South Africa — the epicenter of the AIDS worldwide pandemic. Through local partners on the ground, Restoration Hope touches thousands of children and adults by bringing relief, rebuilding capacity, and redefining opportunity in communities that are destroyed by poverty and injustice. They do this through their orphan care, mentoring program, and education.
Funding is needed to support six mentors and four caregivers. These individuals are key to the future of this community as they work with the children and help meet the needs by those affected by this disease.
