Impact Africa’s Baby Rescue Center is a symbol of hope for the troubling statistic which reports that on average in Johannesburg alone, at least 3 babies are abandoned every day! Due to the challenges young women in South Africa face as a result of such extreme poverty, so many find themselves pregnant with no other option but to literally abandon their babies in dumpsters, portable toilets and hospitals. Babies have been found wrapped in plastic bags, thrown from buildings and tied to train tracks. Impact Africa is committed to being an advocate who will intervene on behalf of these desperate young mothers and their precious babies! Their two-fold strategy will both counsel and educate pregnant women in these impoverished communities as well provide a lifesaving alternative by launching a Baby Rescue Bin where mothers can safely and anonymously leave their baby! Initially Impact Africa will rescue these babies and immediately work with their partnering agencies to find a safe Baby Home where they are cared for until they are either locally or internationally adopted.
