Recently Team Africa Rising received an invitation to the Rás na mBan, a national race in Ireland. The organizers wanted to invite and all African women's team understanding the growing importance of women's cycling on the continent.
This invitation is a FIRST for an all African women's team! Ireland holds a special place for us as the Tour of Ireland was Adrien Niyonshuti's first professional race back in 2009. Ireland cycling recognizes the development of cycling on the African continent and seeks to give African riders valuable opportunities to enter the professional ranks.
This race has a small budget. Therefore we would need to raise funds to take a team of 6 women and three staff to the event September 4-8, 2019. The budget for flights, visas, hotels, cars, and food is $20,000. We realize it is a significant ask. However, one race can make a difference for these women. Just ask Adrien what happened to his career after racing Tour of Ireland ten years ago!
We need your support. Every amount helps!
For every donor giving $200 or more, we will send you a complimentary Team Africa Rising t-shirt (men's and women's while supplies last). Donate $1,000 or more we will send you a shirt signed by the team from the race.
Time is of the essence as the sooner we can secure visas and purchase airline tickets, the less expensive those flights.
