Only 36% of teen parents graduate high school nationally, but 98% of teen parents that have participated in our First Steps program have earned their diplomas throughout Northwest Arkansas.
First Steps is TASC’s program for teens who are pregnant or currently parenting. Finding out you’re pregnant while a teenager can come as a huge shock — and that’s just the beginning! Figuring out how to will balance child care, a job, and school can get overwhelming fast.
Our goal is to remove some of that burden so teen parents (and expecting teens) can focus on finishing school, achieving their goals, and creating a great life for themselves and their family. Some of the barriers these teens face are physical resources—from diapers and wipes to caps and gowns. Our teens work extremely hard to graduate and this why we are asking YOU to help us remove some of those barriers like caps and gowns. A cap and gown costs $40.00 and the costs to help support a teen parent through First Steps is $288.00 a year, or just $24.00 a month.
