I found out a few days ago that June 23 is International Widows' Day, a day recognized by the United Nations. Where will I be? AFRICA. As a widow serving other widows!
DO NOT try to tell me there is such a thing as coincidences!!
Here's what the UN says about widows: "No woman should lose her rights when she loses her husband – but an estimated 115 million widows live in poverty, and 81 million have suffered physical abuse. Girls married to much older men are especially vulnerable. Let us use International Widows’ Day to advocate for the rights of all widows so they can enjoy better lives and realize their great potential to contribute to our world."
Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon
We are a society that has no idea the hardships these women and children face each day. Even in the orphanage, a child is lucky to have a pillow or a sheet. They do have beds, but have to share. Those that are in homes sleep on dirt. We want to make a difference! I want my children to see that our eyes always need to be open to helping others.
Thank you to those who have contributed. Thank you for your prayers!
