Mission to El Salvador, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) U.S. based non-profit organization founded in 2009 to offer hope and healing to kids at risk, the homeless, and victims of exploitation in El Salvador.
El Salvador suffered a brutal civil war in the 80s and early 90s that left poverty, violence, and crime in its wake. The country currently struggles with high rates of alcohol abuse, sexual abuse and exploitation, a rising poverty rate, and high rates of violence perpetuated by criminal street gangs around the country. The people of El Salvador need holistic healing, and we believe in a faith-based approach to alleviate both physical and spiritual poverty.
MTES was founded by Jon and Danielle Snyder. After several years of visiting El Salvador, the faces of the people struggling on the streets stayed in their minds and hearts. In 2009, the Snyders moved with their two children to the capital city of San Salvador to work full-time ministering to the urban poor.
Along with the Snyders, we have 7 other full-time Salvadoran staff members working to oversee and coordinate our programs and projects. We believe in working closely with local churches and NGOs to strategically make a difference in the city of San Salvador.
The work of MTES in El Salvador includes an urban community center, preventive work in foster homes, a community health clinic, job training for the homeless, and transition and labor integration for women and girls that have been sexually exploited.
