Home Study Finalized!
Today we received a copy of our home study, which in short, is the legal document stating that we are ready to adopt and become parents. It's been a long haul to get here, but it's amazing to have this paper in hand!
We are officially approved to adopt up to two children, ages newborn to two years, of any race or ethnic background.
So what happens next? There's a little caveat on the last page, "Currently, Mike and Kitty are not able to afford the adoption process. They plan to apply for grants and continue to save money...(w)hen they have raised sufficient funds, we will feel confident in their decision to afford the adoption process."
Obviously, not everyone has $50,000 or $60,000 in their back pocket! The fantastic, hopeful, wonderful news is that between the generosity of strangers, friends, and family, and the successful fundraisers we've hosted thus far, we're about a third of the way there. We have some plans to continue to fundraise going forward, and we are indebted beyond earthly words to those who have already contributed.
If it is in your heart to donate to our little growing family, please know that I will personally be very grateful.
May God bless you and yours,
Mike and Kitty
