I love stories. We all have a story to tell, whether we know it or not. Stories have the power to connect us to one another.
While I've been a consumer of great storytelling all my life, it's only been in recent years that I'm actually creating them through the use of video. Now, I have the amazing opportunity to travel to the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) for ten days to capture the stories of those living in one of the most difficult parts of the world. Of the 187 countries listed in the U.N.’s Human Development Index, which measures a population’s well-being, the DRC is at the very bottom: #187. Most families are living on an average daily US income of $1.
And that is why Crossroads Church, the church I attend and work at, has partnered with Covenant Kids Congo powered by World Vision to help change the lives of thousands through clean drinking water, child sponsorship, education, health, agriculture, economic development and advocacy.
Already, Crossroads has sponsored over 500 children in the Ledia community, the area where myself and 6 others will be traveling to, just outside of Gemena, DRC. Most people aren't experts or knowledgable about the DRC, including myself, and by seeing the DRC first-hand I'll be able to educate people on the needs of the Ledia community. I also believe the Congolese people have a lot to teach us about faith and trust in God. I can't wait to see what God does on this trip.
And I need your help! I started a fundraiser on Pure Charity to help off-set the expenses of this trip. I have a one time donation goal of $5,000 that will go towards the initial cost of this mission. Every donation is important and will enable me to capture stories. I also have a huge need for people to partner with me in prayer. Prayer is the fuel that will allow our trip to be successful as we follow God's leading in a remote and challenging area.
You can give directly through the Pure Charity website or write a check to Crossroads Church and mail to me directly. Email me for contact information. Thank you so much for taking the time to learn about my upcoming opportunity and helping me accomplish something that's so important!
