About this Fundraiser

This team will be building a home for David Moline. Team Leader, Mary Jo Doege, first met David in November of 2017. Since her first trip, she has sponsored David through Tree of Hope Haiti, to attend school and receive an education.

After your TOHH register to be on this trip you will be asked to fill out other forms. All forms are required to be completed by: January 22, 2019

January 22, 2019: Pre-Trip Meeting and Purchase Flights (Do not buy flights until you check with your team leader for exact flight information) Teams are to be on the same flight to ensure everyone is together, prices may vary

March 2, 2018: Final Balance of Guesthouse fee $450.00 and Pure Charity fee $25

Please Read below for a Trip Description:

During her first trip, David was very excited to welcome her into his home. The roof has holes and inside there is a tarp to contain some of the water if it rains. There are vinyl tablecloths on the walls to help keep out water. There is one bed and a second makeshift bed that fell apart while we were there. A few clothes are hung on the walls and the rest are stuffed under a blanket to form a mattress for sleeping. A small shelf in the corner holds a couple of cooking pots. The dirt floor is one of the biggest issues. Water can collect forcing the family to sleep elsewhere and can contribute to the spread of disease. After seeing David's home Mary Jo asked if we could buy a tarp or do something to help. Angela and Gama said the house really needed to be torn down and rebuilt.

It was exciting to learn we could build a house for David when we return to Haiti next spring. The home we build will depend on how much money we can raise. At minimal, he will have four sturdy walls and a concrete floor! We have a goal to raise $2,500.00

We will also be conducting a VBS as we will be at TOHH the week before Easter. We will share the Easter Story, have an egg hunt and, even more exciting, we will help them to build kites for a Haiti tradition on Good Friday.
