We officially started our adoption journey in October 2018. The day after Christmas 2019, after over a year of paperwork, interviews, fingerprints, fees, more paperwork, and lots of prayer, we said yes to a referral of a beautiful 5 month old boy in India. In February 2020, we received US State Department and India Central Authority approval to adopt him — we were officially “paper pregnant!” We registered for court in India, hoping a judge would make him officially our son by July 2020. Then COVID-19 hit, and like the rest of the world, everything came to a standstill. In the meantime, we celebrated his first birthday via videochat and watched him grow through occasional photos and videos, all while waiting for the day when we could finally hold him in our arms. As Mo Willems said, “Waiting is NOT easy!”
However, TODAY we received our first message from the court — a request for more documents. They are finally looking at our case! We hope we will finally have our first court hearing soon! While there are “many more miles to go,” we look forward to the day when our family of 6, split across 2 continents, will finally be united!
Thank you all for journeying with us!
