Our team will be traveling to
Clarens, South Africa, to serve with the Dihlabeng Church Community and the
Nnete Foundation, a ministry serving to help at-risk children escape the cycle
of poverty and the lingering effects of apartheid. We will also have a chance
to work and serve in the Tshepong Church in Manyatseng, a community bordering
the country of Lesotho. Both Dihlabeng and Tshepong Churches and the Nnete Foundation
are part of Regions Beyond, a global outreach partner of River’s Edge Church
and Hope for Regions Beyond.
We will be using many different skills on this trip and hope to include members
with painting skills, construction or repair talents to replace a roof, and expertise
with business and computers. These are some of the skills that will be useful
to help the Dihlabeng and Manyatseng communities move towards
self-sustainability and in their continued journey to develop skills that will
equip young people escape the cycle of poverty. We will be bringing some
construction tools and will be purchasing needed supplies for the roof repair once
we arrive.
We will also spend time with the Nnete Foundation children and their families, and with the church families of the Tshepong church in Manyatseng.
You don't need any of the above mentioned skills, everyone will have a role
that will benefit the people of these communities in South Africa.
