We have BIG news!

We are adopting!

Who: A boy age 0-6 from Colombia, South America.

Why: We have always planned to adopt. There are many orphans in the world without parents. We want to bring a child into our home to give them a family, opportunities they may not have had otherwise and to show them the love of Jesus. We believe every person was made in God’s image and so each orphan is valued highly by Him as his creation. Because He highly values them, we do too. We know every family is not meant to adopt, but we are and we know God has prepared our family for this.

Why South America: Countries have different requirements for adopting families and we matched with Colombia. They have established agencies and very efficient processes. We wanted to adopt from a country where not being adopted would pose high risks for a kid. Colombia in particular has high rates of drugs and drug related crimes. We chose a Latin American country because we have friends who are Latinx and we want to bring a child into an environment where people also look like them.

When: We started the process in late July 2020. It could take 18 months to 2 years to bring him home.

How much: The cost to adopt internationally with Lifeline is $42,000. No small number. We have already seen the Lord richly bless us (and our son) through your giving! We would love your financial support and prayers. We have started this crowd funding platform for easy tax deductible donations. 

About our family: In case you only know Jon or I, here is some more info about our family. Jon and I met in Durham at our church in 2009. We got married in 2011. Jon serves as a campus pastor at the Summit Church. April is a nurse practitioner and homeschool mom to Keller and Emerson. Keller is 7 and in 1st grade. Emerson is 5 and in Kindergarten. Avery is 3 and loves to do whatever her siblings are doing.
