Give a one-time donation to sustain Kwathu Free Haven Community School.
A message from Kwathu's founder, Samantha Knaub:
Hi Everyone! Four months ago I moved to Livingstone, Zambia as a volunteer. On February 1, 2016 I began holding classes for children in the community whose parents could not afford to send them to school. By the end of the first week over 110 children showed up at my classes to learn. Most of these children have between six to ten siblings and they live in exceedingly small, unfinished houses that lack basic necessities such as: running water, electricity, and bathrooms. Since the majority of their parents make less than $50 a month, the children who attend my school are malnourished and do not eat on a daily basis.
Kwathu Free Haven Community School is currently being built. Once the school is completed 140-175 vulnerable students will be able to receive an education through this program.
In order to sustain the school for the first year it will cost approximately $52,000. Below is a breakdown of expenses.
- Staff Salaries - $24,000 (20 employees)
- Feeding Program - $24,000 (breakfast and lunch)
- Utilities - $2,500
- Classroom Supplies - $1,500
Thank you for helping me make a difference!
