We have BIG news!

We’ve adopted a precious baby girl, Emery Aaliyah Kenny!!!

Before getting married, we always talked about adopting at some point. We figured our family would start with one or two children through pregnancy, then we would step into the blessing of adoption and adding to our family. As you may know, our story didn't play out this way. Through infertility challenges in our first 7 years of marriage, our story of starting a family went different than planned. Though different, this story is nothing shy of God's blessing in our lives, making the 7 years of infertility feel like the blink of an eye as Emery has brought us more joy in two weeks than we could ever imagine. 

We are beyond excited and have done everything we know possible to be prepared to welcome a beautiful new life into our lives. As part of the final adoption process, we have started a crowdfunding campaign. Typical processes allow for a bit more time to ask for you to join us in blessing financially, but in our specific situation, we had less than 24 hours from hearing of the possibility to meeting her in the hospital. As you can imagine, a wild 24 hours, but we would have it no other way, she is the greatest blessing we’ve ever received. 

It may surprise you to hear that adoption related costs can easily total up to $20,000 or more in a lot of cases. In our situation, the costs are actually less (YAY!), so we have set a goal of $16,500 to help ease the financial burden that often overwhelms adoptive parents. The majority of this goal is going directly to the costs of the adoption itself, with a small portion helping cover less income so that Katelyn can bond with our baby girl, comparable to the time off and part pay that a working mother would receive from the state after giving birth. As you know, this will be a great blessing to have this important time in the early months of Emery’s life :)
