Have We Been Quiet? Posted about ago
Yes -- We are long overdue for an update and it has been radio silence over here. We have an adoption update and a life update, which will help explain the silence.
Adoption Update:
Our first home study went great. As I mentioned in my last update, I was very nervous for the safety check of our house. Of course our house is safe, Braydon is evidence of that, but since we do already have Braydon I felt like I had something to prove
Prior to the meeting we were given a checklist of things we MUST have in order to be approved. The list included standard baby proofing things such as outlet covers, locking up chemicals and alcohol, baby gates, etc. However, there were a few things on the list that we did not have yet including a spark shield for the fire-pit in the backyard or the correct size fire extinguisher. The fact we were missing any of the must haves made me second guess everything.
The day before the house study, Corey and I decided to pay for a house cleaner to come... One less thing to worry about. I came home from work around 5pm ready to complete the last few to-dos and found our house a mess -- not clean at all. That did not help the nerves. Luckily, we have a village (thank you DayDay and Kyle) who are willing to drop everything, help clean our house, replace any missing outlet covers and we got everything ready in an hour or two. Wine\pizza helped and I have since been forgiven of getting a little (or a lot) crazy. Love you CJ.
The morning of, we did a walk through of our house that took about 5 minutes and was very anti-climatic. We then had an interview session primarily discussing our relationship and our parenting style.
The next home study is scheduled for the first week in January. During this visit, Braydon will get to meet our case manager and then Corey and I will have to do separate interviews. Our case manager calls it the interview regarding 'Sex, Drugs and Rock and Roll'... Sooo that should be interesting. :)
Since our last update, we have had 13 more donations! EKKKK - Thank you! I will post pictures soon.
Life Update:
As many of you already know, about 5 months ago Corey retired from Stay-At-Home dad duty and accepted a full time Account Executive position. He LOVES it and is really good at it (duh). The only problem is that this new job is in Rino, meaning a 1hour+ commute each way. Needless to say, Braydon and I miss him during the week, but we want to invest in this new opportunity.
We haven't decided what this means for our next chapter. Will we move? Maybe. But as you can imagine we want to make sure we figure out our plan before we welcome home baby.
If you have room in your prayers, we could use extra prayers for clarity.
