Villa General Belgrano was founded in 1930, by German speculators attracted by its agricultural potential. The Alpine quality of the village attracted immigrants from Germany, Switzerland, Italyand Austria. In 1940, German seaman scuttled and sunk their battleship, the Admiral Graf Speeoff the coast of the Montevideo. Thereafter 130 of its surviving sailors settled in this village and landscaped the mountain ranges of Córdoba with red-roofed, wood-frame homes. Today,  microbreweries and pastry and chocolate shops abound. The village, characterized by its typically Bavarian style architecture, survives on a steady flow of tourists.

Aside from the quaint, quiet, attractive nature of the area, it is also a village desperate for the gospel. The people are primarily secular Catholics who believe in God and Jesus...but they have no personal relationship with Christ. They place their trust in the church rather than in the person of Jesus. Their true worship is to Mary and the many idols of the church.

The presence of evangelical Christianity is so small as to almost be not measurable. Fortunately God has raised up a dedicated, passionate group of Biblically solid believers in the village. As we are guided and led by the Holy Spirt, we will work together with the members of this small (yet mighty) body of believers to make the person of Jesus known to all. We will offer a vision clinic that provides eyeglasses - along with prayer and the message of the gospel. There will be a daily VBS style children's ministry outreach while others of our team will visit the village residents in their homes sharing the love of Christ.

The command of Christ (Matthew 28) is for us to make disciples, not merely converts. As we share our stories and God's story, we will gather the new believers into home Bible studies to begin the process of discipleship. Our goal is to evangelize, disciple and establish as many home Bible study groups as the Lord permits.
