A lot of you have been asking how our adoption process is going, so we wanted to update you on where we are :)
The past few months we’ve been working to finish all of our paperwork so we could submit everything to be translated into Spanish. We submitted our dossier to be translated in May, and submitted our I800a application for immigration. It took about 6 weeks to get our dossier translated and to receive approval of the I800a application. Last week, our agency submitted everything to the orphanage where our kiddo(s) live.
So, now we wait!
The next thing that will happen is we will be notified when our dossier is approved by the orphanage and the central authority in Colombia. Then, we will be one of their waiting families to be matched with a child or children. This phase of adoption can require a long wait or can be relatively short. We are trying to prepare for both scenarios. Things have been moving along pretty quickly, and realistically we could receive the referral for our child(ren) in the next few months. It’s hard to believe! And we are so excited!
Thank you so much for your continued support & prayers! If you want to be praying throughout this next part of the process, you can pray:
- for our child(ren) to be protected, cared for, loved well
- that we would take this period of time before him/her/they arrive to prepare well for them (reading parenting/adoption books, learning Spanish, slowing down our lives, etc.)
- for wisdom for the people who will be matching us with our child(ren)
- that we would trust God’s timing in the waiting + that we would be continually praying for our kiddo(s)
