We passed the $1500 mark and are 30% of the way to our goal! You have helped raise enough money to run one of the weekly jigger removal clinics that Sole Hope hold in communities near Jinja, Uganda. At these weekly clinics, Sole Hope loads up trucks with supplies, staff, and volunteers and travels out into the rural communities. Often times clinics happen at schools, but anyone nearby is welcome to come to clinic to have their feet washed and inspected for jiggers or other medical issues. Any jiggers that are found are removed by trained Sole Hope staff and the wounds are treated to prevent infection. Every person who comes to a clinic then receives a pair of Sole Hope shoes, regardless of if they had any jiggers or not.

Clinics are amazing events to be a part of. It is a true community event. The Sole Hope staff will lead the children in games and songs that teach them about the basic hygiene that can prevent jigger infestations. Parents and other adults from the community will gather and chat. Children that have completed their treatment sit enjoying their "sweeties" (lollipops), run around playing tag, and show off their new shoes. While there are some tears and pain during the removal process, the overall spirit at a Sole Hope clinic is one of joy and celebration.
