The New Life Family Center's 12-month accredited vocational training programs offer vulnerable women the opportunity to learn sewing or cosmetology. Mastering these marketable skills offer a future of employment and the chance to escape poverty. Each year this program moves 80-95 women and their young children toward a better life.
Our team of four women are returning to Rwanda for the first two weeks in March to contribute to the program curriculum by sharing our stories of loss, forgiveness and redemption. More importantly however, we go to listen as women in the program tell us their stories and begin their journey to restoration.
Upon graduation, each woman in the program receives a graduation kit to help her start a business. Approximately 75 graduates of the sewing program receive a machine and supplies. Approximately 15 women in the cosmetology program receive hair appliances and nail supplies.
Because so many of our state-side friends want to help, we are raising funds to buy supplies in-country once we arrive to finish these kits. For just $20, you can provide locally-purchased fabric for the sewing kits. For $72, you will provide a locally-purchased dryer, flat iron, scissors, brushes, nail polish and necessities for the cosmetology kits.
Of course, any amount you choose to give will be used to build a kit for a woman starting a new life for herself and those she loves.
