Mission Statement

Following the example of service shown by Jesus Christ, Hope Smiles exists to address disparities in access to quality oral health care in under resourced communities throughout the world -- starting in Uganda. We are individuals motivated by sacrificial love who seek to come together to build relationships and establish partnerships within the communities we serve, providing both initial access to quality oral health care and empowering community members to provide it in the future.

Short Term

• Create an oral health team that will deliver quality, accessible, oral health care in Uganda.
• We will focus on partnering with ministries and NGOs with children in need of dental care. These children will have their oral health needs met and receive regular checkups as they grow, thereby improving their quality of life.
• Our clinic will be based in Jinja, Uganda and equipped to go mobile, allowing us to travel into unreached communities to serve the oral health care needs of these communities.
• Aside from Dr. Shinska, our team will be comprised of Ugandans, with a long term focus of empowering Ugandans to provide basic oral health services to the people of Uganda.
• We will also be equipped to host short term outreach teams, and will follow up on the care delivered on these trips after these teams return home.

Mid/Long Term

• Connect with and serve the oral health needs of other communities throughout Uganda.
• Establish a dental school in Uganda.
• Replicate our model for the empowerment of locals to deliver basic oral health services in under resourced communities around the world.
