******* 2nd UPDATE *******
Please do not donate via Pure Charity anymore. Instead, please write a check made out to Hannah Blankenship with a memo of "Mission Trip". I have only $544 left to raise! Thank you all for your support!

******* UPDATE *******
The change in my one-time goal amount has been reduced from $3,000 to $2,550, so that my Pure Charity goal reflects the amount raised via cash and checks (which were made out to Life Raft International, memo: Hannah's Mission Trip).

Hello!
This summer I plan to travel to Bangkok, Thailand on a special missions trip for 2 weeks with Life Raft International. In June, I will work with refugees, many of whom have escaped to Thailand after having been persecuted for their faith, who are living in a Safe House established by a small but incredibly dynamic nonprofit started by my friends Chris and Jade Woodruff. I have interacted with the refugee families through Skype over the past two years, and this is finally my chance to meet them face-to-face and help them on the ground in Bangkok!!
To let you know more of my heart behind this trip: I graduated from high school last year and have been taking a gap year, working full time with the goal to travel abroad before I go to Liberty University in Fall 2014. I’m going on this particular trip because I have been supporting Life Raft for the past two years and believe strongly in its incredible mission and heart for refugee families in Bangkok. Life Raft International is an organization that seeks to help refugees survive in Bangkok while they are waiting to obtain official refugee status. If the refugees are caught before obtaining refugee status, they are thrown into cages, separated from their families, and ultimately shipped back to their home country where they will face severe persecution.
In a nutshell we will:
1) Deliver food to the refugee families who are unable to work.
2) Visit families in detention centers and bring them food, hygienic products, and clean water. The detention centers are filthy and overcrowded cages where refugee families are separated and given little food and water.
3) Encourage and support the 5 refugee families who are living in the Life Raft safe house. The refugee families are forced to stay in doors and hide from the Thai government, forbidden from working, unable to speak the language, desperately seeking resources that will help them survive this city of 6 million.

I am beyond excited to meet and interact with the refugees and see how God will work through our ministry. Also, I’m just plain excited to go on an overseas adventure.
