Friends and Family,
International Justice Mission (IJM) is a global organization that protects the poor from violence in the developing world. IJM's global team includes more than 750 lawyers, investigators, social workers, community activists and other professionals at work through 17 field offices.
IJM works to prove justice is possible by doing these four things:
1. Rescuing Victims - get them out of the place where they are in danger.
2. Bringing Criminals to Justice - hold slave-owners, traffickers, rapists and criminals accountable in court.
3. Restoring Survivors - give them the support and tools they need to heal and thrive.
4. Strengthening Justice Systems - stop violence before it starts by helping strengthen the local justice system.
IJM is seeing that proof of change is possible. So far, IJM has rescued more than 40,000 people from violence and oppression. And, today, IJM's work is helping to protect 21 million people globally from violence. To learn more about what IJM is doing globally check out their website: https://www.ijm.org
I am humbled and excited to say that I have accepted a Communications Fellowship with International Justice Mission in Bangkok, Thailand. I will be leaving in January 2018 and will be in Bangkok for 10-12 months.
What is the problem in Thailand? Great question. Labor trafficking (Forced Slave Labor) is the issue at hand and it is running rampant. I have attached a fact sheet about everything you should know about the office in Bangkok, Forced Slave Labor and the work we will be engaging. Take a look!
In college, I chose to study Public Relations because I knew I would be able to use it as a tool to advocate for others on a daily basis. I am humbled to have the privilege to write stories that will exhibit the bravery and reality of survivors of Forced Slave Labor. This is a task that I will take seriously, humbly and carefully. These stories must be told to inspire action and put an end to this global issue.
I ask you to partner with me prayerfully and financially in my venture to Bangkok, Thailand. I believe wholeheartedly those two things are mutually vital.
To make this opportunity a reality, I am responsible for raising $20,000 to live and work in Bangkok for IJM.
By using PureCharity, every penny given will be tax-deductible for you and will go towards this IJM fellowship. It is a humbling reality that each of you will be making it possible for me to serve this office and assist them in proving that justice for the poor is possible.
I can’t wait to share the stories from the field with you next year. It’s going to be a wild ride and I can’t wait to share this journey with you!
With love,
Hannah Dixon
