December 3rd is Giving Tuesday. It is a day focused on what we can give instead of of what we can get ourselves. We are using it to focus all of our efforts to raise awareness and funds to start a new sewing project in Kenya by summer 2014!
Our goal is to bring hope that has been lost in the lives of women as a result of AIDS, death, and poverty. This is a reality through James127 Foundation, as widowed women create beautiful products leading to a sustainable means to provide for themselves and their families.
In order for these women to become Certified Kenyan Tailors, they must pass 3 tests given by the country. J127 sets up a sewing training for widows in the slums that have zero skills. They are given a sewing machine, a teacher & the lessons that are needed so they can provide for their families in the future. More importantly, they are given hope.
To be able to run the sewing program, many supplies are needed including an overlock machine and iron boxes. We need multiple iron boxes for the women to share. We are asking everyone to donate, but even if you are not able to donate, please give the opportunity to someone else by promoting this fundraiser on Facebook, Twitter and in your other social circles.
Thanks for taking a moment to read this and thank you for giving. Every bit helps people in desperate need. We will keep reaching widows as far as God and the globe will allow us.
