About Haiti Health Ministries

The purpose of Haiti Health Ministries is to show the love of Christ to the lost and to strengthen the body of Christ in Haiti. Thus we endeavor to present the Gospel and subsequently follow up with discipleship training as an outgrowth of the medical ministry  and outpatient medical clinics in Haiti.  Patient education, community health education and screening, training and encouraging national medical workers, as well as caring for indigent patients will be a part of that ministry and used to strengthen and encourage Haitian believers and witness Christ’s love to non-believers.

Haiti Health Ministries works through expatriate missionaries who work with established mission organizations in Haiti and with the Haitian national churches.

Statements of Faith

Medical Clinic

The HHM medical clinic is located near Gressier Haiti. The clinic treats around 130 patients a day with a variety of illnesses. Children and adults, pregnant women, those suffering trauma from accidents, or scheduled for procedures come to the clinic. No one is turned away because they cannot pay.

Pharmacy

The pharmacy at HHM sells about 150,000 pills, creams, or syrups  per month in addition to the donated medications we give out free.  Our two technicians, Wuilson and Feda, work there filling prescriptions not only for our patients but also others that come.  Our short-term non-medical volunteers often help us pre-pack pills to fill this huge need.

Laboratory

Mis Ketlie, our laboratory technician, does about 850 tests on patient specimens per month.  She does a large number of glucose tests for our diabetic patients as well as routine testing for our many obstetrical patients.

Radiology

The HHM clinic does about 20-25 X-rays per month.  Our digital system minimizes supplies needed and maximizes what we can do with the images.  We primarily diagnose congestive heart disease, pulmonary conditions like pneumonia, cancer, and increased fluid, as well as fractures.

Sonography

Dr. Wilkins does about 135 sonograms per month.  The vast majority are for prenatal evaluations: determining dates, twins, and congenital anomalies.  He also examines abdominal soft tissue and organs to determine if there are diseases present.  Sonography is a very helpful non invasive tool that helps in diagnosing problems.
