Why climb Mt. Kilimanjaro? 

Africa has been an important part of our family since 2007, when Julie traveled to Kenya to visit our sponsored children and help start a school. 

In 2012, Julie returned to Kenya and took Madi with her. The impacts of that trip on our family were profound. In particular: 

• Madi developed friendships with Kenyan children who were just like her in many ways - except they weren't assured of a good education or the benefits it affords;
• She committed to personally funding the High School education for one of those friends - a goal she has now realized; and
• She developed a love of adventure, a passion for exploring, and an affinity for sleeping outside - all things she actively pursues today.

We continue to sponsor children in Kenya and in Rwanda through Africa New Life because we believe those sponsorships help break the cycle of poverty and free children to achieve their dreams. 

We believe everyone deserves to receive an education.  

We were approached about climbing Mt. Kilimanjaro for Africa New Life and jumped at the chance because it combines two things we love: climbing mountains and raising funds to support young people who otherwise wouldn't have access to education. 





All the funds we raise go directly toward academic scholarships for aspiring young students, primarily in Rwanda. The scholarships allow young men and women to rise up and become business and ministry leaders in their communities. They truly impact real lives!
