We believe in the power of a genuine welcome, and we know you do, too.

We believe welcome is a renewable asset. It doesn’t “run out,” so there is no need to hoard it or reserve it for a privileged few. We believe there is no one on our planet who doesn’t deserve the simple gifts of welcome, and that welcoming our neighbors—all human beings within the sound of our voices or the warmth of our embrace—is our responsibility. Welcome is not a reward for passing a standardized test based on skin color, country of origin, language, or the skills you have that we want.

And, while the tools of our trade—trucks and coffee—aren’t essential to the task of extending welcome, we are obsessed with building Refuge Coffee so that we can be a beacon of welcome in an unwelcoming world. And so, we need you to help us get bigger, better tools. Specifically: more wheels.

If we build out a third truck, we already know what that will do for our welcoming capacity:

• We’ll be able to hire more resettled refugees full-time and welcome them into a year-long job-training program. (That's a 35% increase in our refugee and immigrant payroll in the first year.) 
• We’ll be able to tell a more beautiful and accurate refugee story to our city and our world, a world that often sees refugees as either victims who need our sympathy (not true) or terrorists who warrant our fear (even more not true).
• We’ll be able to grow our business and thus grow our capacity to welcome everyone—no matter who they are—to our coffee shop space in the center of “the most diverse square mile in the country.”

Our welcome will widen. And if you join hands with us, we think you’ll welcome more widely, too.
