When we first began this journey we were open to adopting from anywhere around the world. There are unique blessings and challenges when it comes to domestic vs. international adoption. Both reflect the urgent reality that so many children need homes and new parents to take care of them. So when it comes to adopting an orphan, we didn’t see any wrong answer.

We ended up deciding to go with an international adoption agency--All God's Children. After our initial conversation with them, we began to realize the large number of qualifications and restrictions on adoptive parents from both this agency as well as the agencies within individual countries. Our family was eligible for only a few of the countries, and throughout the application process, doors began to open and close, leading us in the direction of Burundi.

Almost one year into our adoption process we received a phone call. It was the director of the Philippines program from All God's Children. She told us she had a specific child that she felt would be a perfect match for our family. Her name is Myles. You can read more about how it all began here. As I mentioned, from the beginning we were open to adopting from anywhere. We went with Burundi because that was the best choice at the time. Obviously God had other plans for our family. When we began this process we had no idea that there was  little girl waiting for us in the Philippines. We always felt that God would give us whatever child He had for us and we are so excited to make Myles a part of our family.  

We know God’s sovereign plans are always accomplished, and we truly believe that all of this is in His hands. He has faithfully led us to the place in our adoption and we know He will be faithful to continue leading the rest of the way.
