We have had such a great holiday season at Esther's House! School starts back up on September 5 and we are getting ready to gear back up for tutoring and skills classes!

During holiday, the kids still had spiritual development with Pastor Stanley three times a week. We wanted to give the kids a bit of a break from the rigors of tutoring, so we held our second annual "Reading Program". Our theme was "Reach for the Stars" and we wanted to encourage our kids to dream BIG about their futures. Each week we studied a different career. We read books about the career, constructed crafts, and invited in a guest speaker from the community. It was a blast!



We also had a reading competition where the kids logged books that they read to turn in for a drawing of prizes! Last week we drew names, and the kids won sodas, sweets, popsicles, ice cream, and dinner in town at Dear Momma's! The competition was fierce from the youngest to the oldest! It was great motivation to continue reading and practicing English all during holiday.



All good things must come to an end and we are all looking forward to school starting up again. Please continue to pray for your sponsor child as school begins, new teachers are assigned, and friends are made.
