The Embry's are headed to Seoul!
Covid-19 has thrown many unexpected wrenches into all of our lives, and the adoption world took an especially hard hit. Luckily, things are moving again and we have a court date in Seoul on September 25! We will be leaving on September 3rd in order to complete the mandatory 14 day quarantine period before we can travel to the Insa-Dong area of Seoul, where we will stay until we take custody of Maxwell (which should happen a few weeks after court). We are extremely excited about getting to this point in the process, but also a little nervous about the difficulty of being away from our four children for so long. Derek will come home after the first month so he can return to work (and homeschooling the kids!). Michelle will stay until custody is granted and will travel home with Maxwell as soon as humanly possible.
The quarantine fees, extended time in country (which was originally two weeks, now nearly two months), along with the unexpected extra time off work (which is unpaid for Michelle), means we still have a bit of money to raise before we travel. We are working around the clock these last three weeks to bring in all of the extra income we can, and have a few small fundraisers planned. We are so grateful for any and all support as we grow our family one last time! It has been such a blessing to get to this point and we couldn't have done it without the support of our friends and family.
