We are reaching out with exciting news. We have been matched with twin girls! As you could imagine, we are beyond thrilled to be at this stage in our journey. We would like to extend our gratitude to each and every one of you for your thoughts, prayers, and support along the way. It was because of that support that we were able to start this process when we did, which led to us being matched with these specific little girls! Thank you!

Currently, we are unable to share specific details - due in part to country-specific confidentiality concerns, but also because we have limited information ourselves at the moment. What we can say, is that these little beauties are currently just over a year old and will likely be around two by the time we are able to bring them home.  

DISCLAIMER:  There are very strict policies with regards to posting anything relating to us or our adoption on social media – so strict, in fact, that they could withdraw the referral for our girls! For that reason we have deleted our Facebook profiles and ask that you reach out to us directly via email, phone, or Skype if you’d like. Please DO NOT post anything on our behalf on Facebook or other social media.

We still have a long road ahead of us, as there are certainly no guarantees in this process. That being said, here is a quick overview of what the rest of this looks like:

- We formally accept the referral

- We wait... excited

- We complete a file that is sent to US immigration

- We wait.... some panic, not a lot

- US immigration approves our file & kicks it over to Burkina Faso

- We wait... a little more panic

- Our file is approved in-country, multiple petitions / court dates are filed (could take several months)

- We wait... wondering how many blowouts will 2 toddlers & dad have on a 20+ hour commute back to the US?

- Act of adoption is issued, birth certificates / legalization of documents / passports are issued

- We travel (1 trip of roughly 15 days, followed by immediately being in over our heads)

I think there is a common theme here - see if you can spot it 😬. Anyway, as you can see most of this is out of our control (as our children will soon likely be). All of these processes takes several weeks and in some cases months, hence roughly a 10-12 month (from now) timeline before we are able to travel. One year is a long time to wait, knowing that your children are already born and living in difficult circumstances, but we will make good use of that time (toddler proofing the house: securing all of our fine China & our extensive samurai sword collections). We will keep you updated as relevant information arises, but given the timeline, that likely won’t come until we are nearing travel later next year. For now, please keep these little ones in your thoughts and prayers, so that we may bring them home healthy and safe when that time comes.
