About this Fundraiser

Dear Friends and Family –

Our family has news-- we are pursuing adoption again! Last January we brought our first adopted child, Rosemarie, home to join our other daughter Olive. What a beautiful thing it has been to see God working in that circumstance to graft Rosey into our family. We couldn’t imagine not having her here . With that said, we believe the Lord is leading us into the next phase of our family through adoption. This time a little bit outside of our zip code…or state…or country!

After months of prayer and research, we believe the Lord is leading us to adopt from Korea. We never imagined ourselves adopting from Korea, but we feel genuinely excited. At this point, we don’t know which child we could be matched with. We know it will likely be a boy, as there are more boys than girls who need homes, and that he will likely be 18-26 months old the first time we meet him. This adoption process will take about two years. So, he could be born about now.

We are writing this story and starting this fundraising page to ask for your help to carry out gospel ministry through adoption. How can you partner with us? In one of three ways:

1) Donate Financial Support:

The reality is the costs associated with this adoption are high. It costs between $40-$45,000 to adopt a child from Korea. To be adopted by God is free (to us,) but apparently it’s not on earth! We believe that God has led us to this so we know He will see to it that it is funded. We believe He will do that miraculously and through His people. I told Sonya the other day, “If 40 of our friends give $1,000 we’ll be finished!” Sounds easy right? We know some will give substantially, but we also believe in God using the last two copper coins of a widow to be just as substantial. We ask that you would please pray and consider giving towards this adoption and give joyfully out of what God has laid on your heart to give. Below is a general breakdown of costs:

-U.S. Processing Fee #1 - $1,950              Adoption Program Fee - $22,500

-Adoption Homestudy - $3,500                 Travel Costs (2 Trips) - $5,000-$13,000

-U.S. Processing Fee #2 - $3,000             Medical Evals, Trainings, Dossier Prep - $7,500

2) Join Us in Prayer:

There are high highs and low lows with adoption. There’s a mountain of paperwork and a great multitude of spiritual attack. Satan hates adopted children just like he hates biological ones. We, however, believe in a God who loves children and wants to set them in families. We believe that He hears the prayers of His people and acts accordingly to the glory of His name. Would you please pray for us on this journey?

In addition to our family would please also pray for: 1) The little boy or girl we hope comes into our family-that they would bond well and be ready to attach well to their new home, 2) the birth mom and dad making hard decisions to place their child for adoption. We pray they feel comforted and loved through this decision, and lastly, 3) for the foster family who cares for the child in the interim. We pray that they would even know the love of Christ, and be gentle and genuinely loving toward this young child, while planting truths about Jesus in his or her heart even now. Also, we pray that look well after his or her physical health.

3) Share the word:

There are people who love adoption and love to support adoption who do not know about us or our adoption. If you feel led, would you please take the time to share our page on your Facebook or any other social media outlets you use? You can also copy and paste the page and send it via email to a friend or family member who might be interested.

Thank you so much for all of your love and support!

To God alone be the glory.

Blessings,

Matt, Sonya, Olive and Rosey Davis

The following verse came into Sonya's heart repeatedly when we started to research adopting from Korea, specifically the description of the captives being set free as a "oaks of righteousness, a planting of the Lord, for the display of his splendor." That resounds in our spirits as we (and any fellow believers) learn more and more about getting ready to bear the weight of God's glory. We are learning it especially day by day as we press into this new journey.

“The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me [Jesus,] because the Lord has anointed me to bring good news to the poor; he has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to those who are bound, to proclaim the year of the Lord's favor, and the day of vengeance of our God; to comfort all who mourn; to grant to those who mourn in Zion—to give them a beautiful headdress instead of ashes, the oil of gladness instead of mourning, the garment of praise instead of a faint spirit; that they may be called oaks of righteousness, the planting of the Lord, for the display of his splendor.” - Isaiah 61:1-3
