Hello Dahl Village Sponsors, 

I hope you and your families are all doing well and enjoying the coming of Spring.

I want to write you and give an update on Dahl, the village where the child you sponsor is from. As I’m sure you know, the people of Haiti continue to live in desperate times. You may have seen the news reporting how the gangs have overtaken the majority of the country. This includes schools, banks, police headquarters, hospitals, businesses, etc. Just last week they over ran the National Prison and released more than 4,000 hardened criminals back onto the streets. The Haitian people are living through some of the worst times of crime, violence, hunger and desperation the country has ever faced.

Dahl village has not been exempt from these sufferings.  Our involvement in Dahl Village started years ago as two of our partnering churches generously gave their support to building homes, supplying a water filtration system, and constructing a church and school. The community was blessed and prospered for years - until the gang corruption spread from the cities and out into the countryside of Dahl. Last year, the gangs overtook the community, bringing disruption and violence. They attacked several people of the community, destroyed homes and dismantled the church and school building, stealing everything of value. Thanks to the Lord, our children, teachers and staff were all able to flee the area with no physical harm, although, emotionally and mentally they suffered greatly.

We were able to rent a building in Williamson, the closest community, for the next school year.  However, in time, this building was taken by the gangs as well. Our staff continued ministering to our children and their families and once again found a suitable building where we could house the school and cook their daily meals. I’m happy to tell you that we are continuing to minister to the children and families of Dahl Village. Your child is one of 43 children who receive a Christ centered education and a hot meal each school day. They are led by Principle Michlett and six teachers.  Please continue to pray for them and especially that the Lord will keep the gangs away from the school.
