Time in Peru Posted about ago

Good evening, I pray everyone has had a good week and looking forward to a restful weekend. Many of you know Oggie and I have been on a jet plane trip around Peru doing 6 mid level trainings in 6 cities with those who attended the trainings we had back in Feb. We learned quickly many attending the trainings are brand new in which the pastors from Feb have invited so its been quite a task for Oggie to adapt to each location based on the need of each area and where they are at. Let me brag on Oggie, wow what a servant and team player. He has just adapted and done a fabulous job. Today begins the 1st city in the coast and Highlands area of Peru but I would like to share with you what we are seeing and learning as we go. 155 areas of work have been identified in the Amazon Region, 12 of those in the network are Legacy churches that have existed for many years but are adapting to the 4 fields strategy as the model to reproduce and make disciples.Of the remaining 143 areas of work 16 of them were existing believers who started meeting together in homes and have identified as church. The remaining 127 areas are made up of new believers who are now meeting in homes. 18 of the 127 have identified themselves as church. The remaining 109 areas are in the process to identify as churches and are meeting on a regular basis completing the many but not all of the functions of church. Best we can tell a large number of these works have begun since the Feb training of all Peru leaders. I am excited to report that we are finding many have been started from our translators we work with on expeditions. We are praying we see the same growth in the highlands and Coast regions and we will know over the next week. Just to share where we are finding the main stuckages there are two areas that continue to show up. We are seeing that we are not teach enough on the 3/3rds process or they are not seeing the importance of 3/3rds to get to healthy. They get 411 and the tools used like 15 sec story, three circles but after that they are falling back to preaching and at that point it stalls. The second thing we are seeing is that pastors are still struggling with releasing authority with the biggest thing being baptism. After 3 cities there have been three times now to break through that wall Oggie and I have had to drop the bomb of Baptism hammer and when they begin to fight back we just give them scripture and let them wresle it out for themselves and so far no one has left and began to see that we need to be open to the old ways may just need changing. Time will tell if this happens but we are praying and loving hard through this. I am learning so much in this process and can not thank the Lord for this time but I will need those much smarter than I with some of the next steps to keep the work going. I do see a sticking point between expeditions and the nationals that are owning the strategy and running with it. As a team we will be spending some time talking through this and how we are more effecting in leaving lasting work after the expeditions. We have some great minds at e3 that can help us get the right parts in place and I look forward to seeing how we can improve. PLEASE PRAY as the task to coach and mentor this is very overwhelming not only to me but to Jhon and Alexis. They have a lot just doing expedition task so adding this work on top will be a adjustment for all of us. Just to put all this in Prospective and please know I hate numbers (sorry Dwayne) E3 Peru has averaged 125 church plants a year for the last 3 to 4 years in Peru. Based on what we are seeing we will at least double that this year. These numbers are not reflecting the churches we have planted on Expeditions this year so this is very exciting for the team here in Peru. We have a bigger plan for things here in Peru that I can not wait to share with you as a team. It will require great teamwork and commitment but we think it will explode with growth. Thank you for all you do and continue to do in Peru. The trips for 2018 are coming in and that's exciting. Right now I think we have 15 trips in the process of being put together and budgets completed to get sent in. Praise the Lord for His faithfulness and for the harvest he is giving us. One last thing. We are seeing there is a huge need for laptops for these guys to do their reporting on. If you have a good working older laptop you are not using or friends you can ask about donating please ask. We need 10 to 15 laptops for all the really active doers we are finding. The gen map info we have gathered is A key to success of the work as we know how to coach so they need to update gen. maps monthly. This is not for every person but just our 2nd level leaders who are overseeing their networks. Again thank you for your faithful service to the Lord and Peru
