I ran across this article today in our local San Antonio Business Journal:
http://www.bizjournals.com/sanantonio/bizwomen/news/latest-news/2016/12/road-warrior-cuba-better-get...Despite thawing relationships, it's technically still illegal to travel as a US Citizen to Cuba.
Here the are quoting the above article:
If you fit into one of 12 categories of permissible travel listed below, then a general license to travel to Cuba can be had, as established by the Department of Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control. (A license, by the way, seems only to be a certification via your signature on a form you fill out sometime on or before the day of travel.)
The 12 official categories of authorized travel to Cuba are:
1. Family travel to visit a close relative
2. Official business of the U.S. government, foreign governments and certain intergovernmental organizations
3. Journalistic activities
4. Professional research and professional meetings
5. Educational activities
6. Support for the Cuban people
7. Humanitarian projects
8. Activities of private foundations, or research or educational institutes
9. Exportation, importation, or transmission of information or informational materials
10. Public performances, clinics, workshops, athletic and other competitions, and exhibitions
11. Religious activities
12. Certain authorized export transactions
Obviously I'll be engaged in number 11: "Religious activities".
Though I had already studied the initial material on my own, and taught a version of it on Wednesday nights here at church, we have started going through it again as a group so we're all on the same page. Hopefully "3 times is the charm!"
Right now my funding (by days end) will be at $750 of $2,525 total needed. Your prayers and any help you can provide are much appreciated! Thank you.
