This September, I again have the privilege of traveling as a member of Crossline Church’s women’s outreach team on a mission trip to Haiti in conjunction with The Global Mission and Chanjé Movement who have been sending teams to Haiti since the 2010 earthquake killed over 200,000, injuring another 300,00 and leaving over one million people, including orphans, homeless living on the street. It was at this time the Changé Movement began helping rebuild Haiti by equipping them with the tools to change their communities and resources to rebuild businesses and homes, feeding the hungry, rescuing children off the streets, providing medical assistance, education, and homes for the orphans, all while sharing the hope that is the gospel.
Even now Haiti continues to struggle with government corruption, economic barriers, political and social instability, disease and lack of infrastructure to support the population; all which have led to classification as a fourth world country. The Haitians circumstances do not define them, as I’ve seen myself, how they persevere through it all; a joy-filled people striving to rebuild their lives and their country because they know God meets them right where they are... and so we continue our work through responsible outreach, striving to equip, educate, issue micro loans to develop independence and business growth, support women and children, comfort the forgotten elderly, and build disciples and pastors through our church partnerships.
Many of the team from last year have again felt the calling to return and continue to be a part of the change that is already taking place in the men and women of Haiti. We have BIG plans to be realized; making Haitians the Hero’s and empowering them through the examples of Christ and living out Gods heart for the the least of these. I’ve seen how God sees and loves the Haitians and it’s evident that He wants to use teams like ours to encourage, equip and care for them.
As with any such endeavor, it is only possible with the support of friends and family like you to be my ministry partners. I am humbly asking for your support in two ways:
First, I am asking for your prayers and encouragement. As excited as I am to return to Haiti, I am also a bit nervous. Would you consider praying for our hearts, minds and bodies as we prepare to do Gods work? Pray for our safety and health, and that we will make a huge impact on the Haitian women and children we meet and that our words, actions and prayers may be glorifying to God.
Second, would you consider making a financial contribution towards the cost of the trip including transportation, food housing, supplies and ministry projects. You gift will make the trip possible for me and for us to bring as much tangible support as possible. Please know many lives will be changed, including yours, and that every contribution matters. Thank you for your generosity.
I am excited to see how God will work through our team to transform lives in Haiti while changing our lives as well. And also to return to reunite with Gladamir, the young boy I connected with who lives in the Changé Orphanage and that our family has since sponsored. If you are interested in sponsoring any of the children, please let me know and I will get you the information. I will follow-up with photos and stories sharing all the amazing ways God is working in the lives of those we meet, and in me too!
