In Ukraine, 10%-15% of children who age out of an orphanage commit suicide before age 18.
60% of the girls are lured into prostitution.
70% of the boys become hardened criminals. (http://www.hfgf.org/)
How can we, as the Body of Christ, be the hands and feet of Jesus to the orphaned children in Ukraine and make an impact before they age out?
As Natasha said in the video, the orphanage took care of her basic needs--food, shelter, clothing. But she longed for more. Belonging. Commitment. Love from a family. Hope for a future.
Because we believe these kids need much more than just their 'basic needs', Lifesong Ukraine is building relationships inside the orphanage walls to create what we call "Constant Christian Presence" (CCP). This program invites mentorship/discipleship, improved living conditions, one-on-one counseling, group Bible study, job skills training, sports ministry, music lessons, and computer skills training.

Many of our staff work full-time within the government-run orphanages. In each orphanage, Lifesong Ukraine renovates a ‘room
of hope and trust’ and supplies it with books, games, and videos where kids like Natasha can come to learn in a comfortable and safe environment.

Lifesong Ukraine offers a graduate program to help these young adults transition
successfully into adult life, giving them the support and accountability they
need. The typical graduate has little or no guidance with their future, finding themselves on the streets or in the state dorms. We offer transitional housing in a family setting along with weekly Bible studies,
counseling, and transportation to church, life training and mentorship.
