Thank you everyone for getting me to Ethiopia and back safely! Your prayers and support were absolutely essential. This trip was easy in some ways but so very hard in others. It was such a joyful experience to meet fellow brothers and sisters in Christ with a different language and culture but the same heart for the Lord!
In America, we face the challenge where so many of us try to deny that we are not enough. We are told to be strong, to do it ourselves, to find "success" despite all odds and the cost. We can be blinded to our daily need for Jesus and His saving grace. But in Ethiopia, almost everyone universally recognizes their shortcomings, their sin, and their absolute insufficiency. If they can see their need for a savior, what is stopping them from accepting the Savior that died for them? Fear. So much fear. Fear of their community, their husbands and fathers; fear for their livelihood and lives.
I ask you to join me in praying for freedom for our Ethiopian brothers and sisters. Freedom from the chains of fear, freedom from the patterns of sin that seek to overwhelm, freedom from the powers of darkness that fight against God and His people at every step.
God only knows His plan for me. I do not know if I will ever have the opportunity to see those people again on this side of heaven. But I hope that when I do see them again, it will be in the knowledge that I have been fighting their battles with them even when I am across an ocean.
