Thank you so much for the amazing donations so far. You have no idea how much this helps change a life. Vlad is here this summer, before our paperwork is fully complete, and we are having an amazing time.
A quick story. When we were in the European Food Store (run by a Russian family), the woman behind the counter almost died when she learned that we were adopting a 16 year old Ukrainian. She kept nagging poor Vlad, you better be helpful, you better clean, you better be thankful. I personally don't feel he should "better" be doing anything outside of normal family stuff (like taking out the trash and peeling potatoes often), but her shock was a real eye opener for me. She said, "You have no idea how many families come in here. Celebrating after adoption. Or telling be about their adoption. So many little kids from Russia or Ukraine or other places. I have never met someone adopt someone so old. You have no idea how his life will be changed. God bless you. Bless your family." She really built me up. So often people want to tear this process down. Because truthfully there is a LOT to be fully conscious of and think about. But she made me remember, how cool that we are apart of something like that. That you all are a part of making this kid's choice of leaving everything he knows and loves, to come here, and try to make something of his dreams and to feel the love of family.
God bless you all!
